Here’s a little scriptural equation for you. We talked about this last week at church. If God is love (1 John 4:8), and love is patient and kind, does not envy or boast, is not self-seeking or easily angered, does not keep record of wrongs, rejoices in truth, always protects, hopes, and trusts (1 Cor 13 4-7), then we can also say all those things about God’s character. And my favorite part? 1 Cor 13:8 “Love never fails.” And neither does God.
We had a great service at church today, and this is some of the scripture we focused on.
“And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.” 1 John 4:21
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
4 For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. 5 The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. (Psalm 33:4, 5 NIV)
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. (1 John 3:16 NIV)
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (Romans 10:9, 10 NIV)
